🙂 UMSA is once again offering coaching clinics for the 2020 season! Clinics are open to anyone 16 years of age and older who wish to register

Clinic # 1 ~ Learn to Coach (all day) given by Softball Ontario/N.C.C.P.

This clinic is a part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) under the community stream.  The Learn to Coach Clinic is recommended for beginner coaches and geared towards the Blast T-ball to Mite divisions.  This clinic places emphasis on safety, fun, ethics, teamwork and value beyond the game. Volunteers are shown the age appropriate tools to develop player skills through the Learn to Play programme which are the beginning steps in Long term Player development.  UMSA players that are 16 years or older are encouraged to take this clinic to help them move toward future volunteer positions in their community.

WHEN: Sunday May 3rd, 2020 at 9 AM
FEE: UMSA members – FREE, Non-UMSA – $85.00
WHERE: Unionville Public School (355 S. Unionville Ave.)

There are both classroom and gym activities so please wear casual attire and running shoes. Lunch will be provided.

Clinic #2 ~ Drills, Drills, Drills, (4 hours)

This clinic provides coaches of all levels helpful tips on creating and implementing drills for their athletes. All participants are required to actively participate in the 3.5 hr clinic. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

WHEN: Monday May 4th, 2020 at 6:00pm
FEE: UMSA MEMBERS – $10, Non-UMSA members – $35.00
WHERE: Mount Joy Indoor Field, 6140 16th Avenue (just east of Markham Rd)

These clinics require active participation, so wear running shoes, and comfortable clothes & bring your glove, pen & paper. Please complete form as UMSA is subsidizing the fee to Softball Ontario for this clinic. All non-member’s forms must be accompanied by the above fees. Confirmation will be sent with further details two weeks prior to the clinic. Remember, the knowledge gained from these clinics will always be for the benefit of their athletes.

Clinic #3 ~ Hitting for Coaches 

Starting at the feet and working up, each element of the stance, swing and follow through is covered. Also included in this clinic are segments on the mental aspect of hitting.

FEE: UMSA MEMBERS – $10, Non-UMSA members – $35.00
WHERE: Mount Joy Indoor Field, 6140 16th Avenue (just east of Markham Rd)

The clinic features participation by all attending.
