COACHING CLINICS 2018
UMSA supports their volunteers by offering a variety of coaching clinics. Plans are underway to host a vairety of National Coaching Certification Programs in the Community Stream. These will include: Learn to Coach (all day), and Drills, Drills, Drills. These are all excellent clinics for coaches. Through sponsorship, UMSA subsidizes these clinics for their volunteer coaches. However, the clinics are only open to anyone 16 years of age and over that wishes to register.
Coaching Clinic Registration Forms will be posted February 17th 2018 when volunteers and locations are acquired.
Clinic # 1 ~ Learn to Coach (all day) given by Softball Ontario/N.C.C.P.
This clinic is a part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) under the community stream. The Learn to Coach Clinic is recommended for beginner coaches and geared towards the Blast T-ball to Mite divisions. This clinic places emphasis on safety, fun, ethics, teamwork and value beyond the game. Volunteers are shown the age appropriate tools to develop player skills through the Learn to Play programme which are the beginning steps in Long term Player development. UMSA players that are 16 years or older are encouraged to take this clinic to help them move toward future volunteer positions in their community.

Clinic #2 ~ Drills, Drills, Drills, (4 hours)
This clinic provides coaches of all levels helpful tips on creating and implementing drills for their athletes. All participants are required to actively participate in the clinic. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
When – Saturday April 28th at 9:00am
Fee- FREE to UMSA members, Non-UMSA members pay $35.00
Where – Mount Joy Indoor Field – 6140 16th Ave.
These clinics require active participation, so wear running shoes, and comfortable clothes & bring your glove, pen & paper. Please complete form as UMSA is subsidizing the fee to Softball Ontario for this clinic. All non-member’s forms must be accompanied by the above fees. Confirmation will be sent with further details two weeks prior to the clinic. Remember, the knowledge gained from these clinic will always be for the benefit of their athletes.
CANPitch! (run by Softball Ontario)
This is 6 indoor sessions from March 25th to May 6th inclusive (all Sundays except for Sunday April 1st). “Fundamentals Clinic“, “Learn2Train Clinic” & “Train2Train Clinic”. Each pitcher must bring their own catcher (parent or adult) with them.
SKILLS & DRILLS!
Skills & Drills clinics offered in a 5 sessions from March 25th – April 29th (excluding Sunday April 1st)
Younger and/or inexperienced players will learn the fundamentals of batting, fielding, throwing, and base-running. Available to kids born in 2004-2010.
This clinic is ideal for players who would like to improve their skills and get a head start on the 2018 UMSA Season.

UMPIRE CLINIC 2018 (run by Softball Ontario)
All umpires wishing to be assigned for the 2018 season must take the applicable clinic for their age group. These are mandatory for all umpires under the age of 18.
Please complete Umpire Clinic Form and send with fee. Only forms and fee will guarantee a spot.
